CONVEX
The relationship between aesthetics, ingenuity, efficiency and price gives body and strength to this differentiated proposal of clothes nailer.
How to balance efficiency and aesthetics in such a trivial product? The wooden clothes peg and plastic garment fasteners, in addition to being fragile, have an extremely complicated spring fitting process, making it difficult to build the final part in fully automated machines.
The Convex clothes nailer was created with only two pieces, one of polypropylene and another of polyacetal, leaving out the need for metal springs. The fitting of the two pieces can be done automatically. Sixteen prototypes were developed until we reached the ideal force to hold from the most delicate to the heaviest clothes, tested in various clothesline thicknesses.
We were able to develop an aesthetically attractive product, with efficiency in daily use and very low manufacturing cost, reaching USD 0.04 per piece.
The project was awarded by the Museu da Casa Brasileira.
